The real reason why Arsenal Signed Pepe

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of the Ivory Coast international Nicolas Pepe from Lille - who has signed a five-year deal with the Gunners.

Nicholas Pepe is now Arsenal's fourth signing of this transfer window with a deal that smashes the club’s transfer record,  previously set by Aubameyang’s £56m move from B. Dortmund.

Pepe has reportedly been in London since Tuesday whilst he travelled to Arsenal’s training centre to go through a medical and also meet his new team-mates.
The Gunners have formally introduced the signing of the 24-yr-old from Lille. "Nicolas is a highly-rated and gifted winger who was desired by most of the top teams in Europe," stated Arsenal boss Unai Emery. "He's going to increase tempo, energy and creativity, with the purpose of bringing more goals to our club."

Pepe’s arrival can be a massive booster to Unai Emery, who has been desperate to usher in a winger who might be able to offer real assist for Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette within the final third.

Arsenal did attempt to bring in Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace, but however a £40m ($49m) offer was rejected again by the south London club.

Arsenal the turned their interest to Nicholas Pepe, having scored 22 goals for Lille and contributed 11 assists last season.
